HE CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN

Only a few people know this story. In my brother’s last months, he had confessed Jesus as his Lord and was filled with the Holy Spirit. I was privileged to be with him on his last day. I was alone with him in the room at about 9:30 pm. The room was very quiet. He started saying to me ‘Get me my white shirt… I want to go to the place where they are singing and shouting “Arise… Arise”. The room was still quiet so I told him I wasn’t hearing anything. He looked at me and said ‘why don’t you listen to instructions? I can hear many people singing and I just want to go to that place’. 

A part of me understood what he meant because earlier that day, he kept saying that he was seeing a very bright light in the room. No one else could see it. He had caught a glimpse of heaven and lost every appetite for this world. Nothing else mattered anymore. He caught a glimpse of the real home and just wanted to go there.

If you knew how temporary life on earth is, you wouldn’t place a premium on it. You would live differently if you really understood that your life on earth determines how you spend eternity. Even if you think otherwise, Earth is not home. Don’t get too comfortable living however you please in this temporary place. Jesus is our only ticket to Home.
