“I’m so sorry Jennifer, I don’t think your writing style is compatible with the kind of work that we do!”
Just in case you are wondering, I got this message a while ago. I had applied for a job, and that was the feedback I got. Sigh.
I started writing as a career in 2018. To be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. Don’t get me wrong. I knew how to put words together; but not in a way that a company would pay me for. Well, I could tell stories, but I wasn’t skilled at writing certain kinds of articles. However, I was determined to learn on the job.
‘You did it wrong Jennifer’… ‘why did you write it this way?’. These were some of the things my then boss would say to me. There were times she commended me though.
It was a remote job and she was based on another continent. When it was time for me to get my pay for the second month, she blocked me on every known social media platform(except email). I remember crying myself to sleep, not particularly because of the money. I had spent the whole month working even through the night(there were days I worked till 5 AM).
Fast forward to 2020. In my last blog post, I told a story about how I used the power of visualization to bring certain things into my life in that year. Visualization became something I had proven. I knew it worked.
The question now becomes ‘was I prepared to handle my vision fulfilled?’ If I got the job I was visualizing, had I developed my skills enough to keep it? Hold that thought.
It is now October 2021. From the first job I got in 2018 till now, I have been intentional about developing my writing skills. I have read books, done courses, watched tons and tons of videos. I have become a lot more confident. More importantly, I remain open-minded to learn and improve.
Now back to my initial thought.
The later part of Habakkuk 2:2 says:
“The vision is for a future time. It describes the end and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will SURELY happen. It will not be delayed.”
God’s word is sure. If you constantly meditate on God’s will concerning the desires of your heart and visualize it by giving it the sensory vividness of reality, it will happen. No doubt.
Will you be ready to step into your fulfilled vision?
If your answer is no, then what do you need to do to get yourself ready?
It is a demonstration of faith when you start getting ready. If your vision is to expand your business, start gathering estimates for a bigger business. Start reading the books you need to become a better manager of a bigger business.
We see it in the life of Abraham. His name was changed from Abram(meaning ‘one assumed to be a father’) to Abraham(‘Father of many’). He didn’t wait till he had children before he started bearing the name ‘Father of many’. Inspiring indeed.
You can visualize the kings in your industry coming to the brightness of your rising. While you wait for its fulfillment, learn how to entertain kings. Build the capacity and character befitting for kings.
Get ready for the fulfillment of your vision.
Get prepared because according to the word of the Lord, your God-inspired vision will be birthed.
I rejoice with you in advance for your testimony.
Yours faithfully,
Ipha🖤
